KEETCH SIGNS UP TO BRING BACK DAY CARE CENTRE FACILITIES9.00.00am GMT Thu 3rd Jul 2003
Paul Keetch, MP for Hereford, has signed the petition to back the campaign that is currently being run by the local branch of the Alzheimer's Society to reinstate the day care facilities for people with dementia. "I met with representatives of the Alzheimer's Society some months ago," Mr Keetch explained. "I followed up their concerns with the Primary Care Trust and it appears that there is a problem with funding the day care. "I do not believe that the funding is insurmountable and am keen to see the facilities brought back as a matter of urgency. Not only is it a vital service to the patients but the respite for the carers is also vital to their well being. "I will continue to press both locally and with the new Health Secretary for the funding to be made available. With the number of signatures on the petition to date I am sure that notice will be taken of the very great need for the service to be resumed," Mr Keetch added. If you wish to sign the petition you can find a copy at Paul Keetch MP's constituency office at 39 Widemarsh Street, Hereford, or by contacting the Herefordshire Branch of the Alzheimer's Society on 01432 371137. The Branch is also seeking volunteers to help with collections and would appreciate a call from anyone who may be interested.
