Keetch encourages students to 'Aim Higher'1.31.37pm GMT Tue 25th Jan 2005 Hereford's Lib Dem MP, Paul Keetch yesterday visited Kingstone High School to take part in the 'Aimhigher' roadshow and to show his support for the 'Aimhigher' initiative. The campaign sets out to widen participation in Higher Education with a Government target that by 2010, fifty percent of young people between the ages of 18 and 30 should be undertaking Higher Education. To achieve this, 'Aimhigher' was launched to raise awareness of the benefits of Higher Education and to increase the number of young people from lower income backgrounds participating in the sector. The MP met with students at the school and participated in an interactive discussion centring around Higher Education and commented, "The roadshow is the core of the Aimhigher campaign. The presentation breaks down the myths about Higher Education and tells young people about the opportunities it can offer them for their future careers." "I was pleased and encouraged by the enthusiasm of the group from Kingstone High School who attended the roadshow and I fully support this scheme which, to date, has revealed a marked improvement in the eagerness of young people for going on to university."
