KEETCH HEARS MORE CONCERNS ABOUT PROPOSED MODEL FARM DEVELOPMENT9.00.00am GMT Mon 7th Feb 2005 Plans by Herefordshire Council to close an organic farm and sustainable development site and turn it into an industrial estate could pollute a valuable aquifer in Ross on Wye, Hereford's MP, Paul Keetch has been told. The site, at Model Farm Hildersley, is already known as a catchment area for flooding but now Mr Keetch has been told that the Environment Agency has already been warned about potential pollution from an industrial site into Ross aquifer. "I am astonished about this claim," said Mr Keetch. "I have been shown a letter sent to the Environment Agency last month and will be chasing them up for a reply. This valuable water source might be needed in years to come and it would be crazy to risk polluting it by building an industrial estate over it. Herefordshire Council is wrong to consider this change in its Unitary Development Plan and I will oppose it at the Public Inquiry due to start this month. "The Council didn't even discuss its proposals with the tenants who farm Model Farm and Spring Farm. Once again it shows how appalling this Tory run council is at talking to the people their proposals directly affect. It really is quite disgraceful."
