Hereford's Lib Dem MP, Paul Keetch, met with representatives from Tesco, Herefordshire Council and First Buses today to try to resolve who runs the Bewell Street Tesco bus station. He also raised the issue of a new shelter for passengers travelling on the Tupsley and Hampton Park service.

"On the issue of management we are really no further forward but at least the three parties are talking," said Mr Keetch.

"I think it is clearly a Council responsibility to run the site but naturally this could cost money and impact on the services they provide. First Buses are the major operator on the site but their expertise is providing bus services not managing a station. Tesco simply are the landlords. I hope the Council can resolve the issue of management and I have been promised this will be pursued.

"As for a shelter for the good people of Tupsley and Hampton Park, I hope we may have some good news. I will be talking further with one of the parties about how this can be provided and hope that a shelter might be built. There was a genuine desire on all parts for such a provision but we need to work out who would pay."
