KEETCH INTERVENTION HALTS CREEPING DEVELOPMENT

2.00.47pm GMT Tue 25th Oct 2005

Following his representations to the Herefordshire Council, Paul Keetch, MP for Hereford, has received confirmation that the Llangrove developments currently being considered by the Planning Department are to be looked at as one application.

Commenting Paul Keetch said, "I am delighted that the Council will now treat the various developments at Llangrove as one development, so ensuring that an affordable housing element is included. We must keep young people in our villages and attract young families - this is often not possible with only expensive housing being on offer.

I will still be pressing Herefordshire Council to lower the bar that triggers the need for affordable housing from developments of 10 or more properties to those of 2 or more, and will be meeting Councillors from South Shropshire Council, who have achieved this and formulated other policies successfully, to see how it could be applied to Herefordshire."
