KEETCH PAYS TRIBUTE TO LANCE CORPORAL SHERWOOD

4.40.13pm GMT Mon 31st Oct 2005

Paul Keetch, MP for Hereford today commented on the sudden death of Lance Corporal Steven Gregory Sherwood.

Commenting on the tragedy, Mr Keetch said:

"The death of any soldier is mourned by the nation as a whole. This death is a personal tragedy to his family and friends in Herefordshire. Unlike the Iraq war, there was broad support for Afghanistan, where our forces helped eject the Taliban, reduce drug production and bring some order to a country which has been troubled for centuries.

"The family can feel pride in the cause in which Lance Corporal Sherwood has been involved," Mr Keetch added.
