KEETCH OFFERS PRAISE FOR HEREFORD'S RAIL STATION1.42.51pm GMT Tue 25th Apr 2006 Hereford's MP, Paul Keetch has been advised by the Department for Transport of the news that Hereford's rail station has been re-accredited under the Secure Stations Scheme. As a frequent user of the station and its facilities, Mr Keetch said, "I am delighted to hear that Hereford's station has retained the stipulated national standards in station, passenger and staff security." The scheme, which covers all rail and underground networks which are policed by the British Transport Police has established standards of good practice and accredits individual stations which have worked with the British Transport Police and other local partners to implement security measures. Mr Keetch added, "I am pleased and reassured to know that the staff and rail operators in Hereford are working towards a safer rail environment and have forwarded my personal congratulations to the team at Hereford."
