Keetch - "Early Years Education Needs More Investment"

11.00.00am GMT Wed 10th Oct 2007

Commenting on this week's report from the Daycare Trust into the state of childcare in the UK, MP for Hereford, Paul Keetch, suggests that more Government money should be invested and is vital for early years education.

The MP said, "Many families continue to struggle in their search for appropriate childcare and worryingly over a quarter of families entitled to free childcare are being asked to pay."

Paul Keetch supports the Liberal Democrat Young People and Families Spokesperson, Annette Brooke MP in her call for the Government to invest more money to ensure that children from the poorest families don't miss out on vital early years education.

He went on to say, "This report confirms that more needs to be done to make sure that all childcare is of the highest quality. It is so important that all staff involved in the care of children are better qualified so that every child can fully benefit from quality early years education."
